STONER DINNER

For those of you who haven’t read the first post that went live on the blog, the short of it is that I’ve been living a relatively paleo lifestyle for the past 2 years. So when I first met up with the lovely ladies who run Eating Up With The Hannashians and told them about it, they were slightly shocked, but as the conversation continued they told me about an upcoming event called the “Stoner Dinner”. It took me close to a week to say that I’d go but it turned out to be a great night.

The “Stoner Dinner” was in celebration of 4/20 but, ironically held on the 22nd and 23rd at Queenies, Surry Hills owned by Jamie Thomas, executive chef of 9 different restaurants – this guy CLEARLY has his work cut out for him!

So sitting at the table and going through the menu, I legitimately thought my body was going to combust…I hadn’t even put anything into my mouth!

First things first, BUFFALO TATER TOTS – For someone who hasn’t eaten ANY of this in such a long time, the first bite was…interesting it say the least. It wasn’t what I expected, but the again there’s a really high chance that I would have had to have been, well, high. Didn’t really hit the spot but it wasn’t a total disaster 5/10

PAY DAY TACO BELL – You’d never expect to tie all these elements together but GOOD GOD, JAMACIAN ME HUNGRY! It was honestly one of my favourite things on the menu throughout the entire night and I practically inhaled it! Okay, there were bits in between, but it was the cocaine and I was the addict. It was definetly a table pleaser! 8/10

DOUBLE DONUT BURGER – The most INTERESTING item on the menu and the one I was the most intrigued to try! I was asked so many questions the next day about it from family and friends as to what the flavour was like and the only way for me to describe it was Krispy Kreme meets KFC, but better and less greasy! 7/10

GARBAGE PLATE – I have to say, one of my least favourite items on the menu and table over the night. There were so many things going on, on the plate and none of it seemed to work well. Never the less, it gave everything on the plate a bit of a try just to see what I would potentially be missing out and it probably wouldn’t have been much. The best things that I managed to nom on we’re the sweet potato fries (when they weren’t covered in the mince) and the short rib. 4/10

TWINKIE ICE CREAM- WEINER SANDWICH – Aside from the fact that I was pretty keen to bite into the salted caramel ice cream, it slightly let me down a little. The way everyone talks about salted caramel, you’d think it was the second coming….sorry ya’ll I’ve had better BUT I will say the Twinkie was delish and so was the raspberry sauce! 6/10

I did take home the TOFFEE APPLE but never got around to eating it, I was so stuffed, I felt like I was about to become a turkey at thanksgiving!

But let’s talk overall!

FOOD- 7.5/10

SERVICE-10/10

STAFF AESTHETIC- 8/10
